Do you have one small dataset that you intend to include in STEP that we
might use as a pilot 'module'?
If we can choose a relatively uncomplicated and unencumbered set of
data, I believe it would serve as both beneficial for evaluating the
capabilities of different choices, and also practically for SWORD's
currently users... as for my part, I can convert it for use within the
SWORD framework, so you can see how it would be used if you choose to
just use the SWORD API as the storage format.
I would suggest choosing a dataset and then normalizing the data to some
standard XML markup (OSIS) so we can import it into different data
storage mechanisms easily.
Again, to summarize the benefits, I think this exercise will help the
STEP team choose technology, and the open source software world as a
whole, as I'm sure this dataset will be practically useful for other
projects.
