Dropbox invite for STEP

Hi to all STEP volunteers

I've set up a Dropbox for the STEP project.
Google Docs is great for texts which two people might be editing at
the same time,
but it isn't so great for simply sharing stuff without having to
think about sharing it.

If you don't know Dropbox: it is a folder which sits in your
Documents folder (by default)
and anything you put in there is backed up and shared whenever you
happen to be online.
If you have made a change to a document, it is uploaded,
and if someone else has made a change the new version is downloaded.
If by any chance two people have independently made changes while
offline, then a 'conflict' copy is created,
and a human has to decide what to do. No big deal, and nothing gets lost.

I'll be sending you an invitation for sharing the relevant part of
the STEP dropbox.
You can
EITHER login and have the STEP dropbox on your computer
ID TyndaleSTEP@Gmail.com & PW is the same as for the email
& blog (ask me if you don't know)

OR (and this is the better option)
you can create your own free Dropbox and share just part of the Tyndale one
(you can always login to the complete STEP dropbox if you want to see the rest)

To make your own Dropbox:

1) Go here https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTIxMTg4OTM5
- this is a special referral signup which will give you a
slightly bigger Dropbox (2.25G instead of 2G)
and will add a little more free space to the TyndaleSTEP dropbox.

2) Download the Dropbox software for your platform and run it.

3) Click on the link in the email (which will come soon) inviting you
to 'share' the STEP dropbox
and click on "Accept" on the webpage which opens.

From then on, anything you put inside the STEP folder will be
automatically available to the rest of the team

I've been using Dropbox for a few months, and it has made life MUCH easier.
I don't have to worry about which computer I'm on, because my Dropbox
is automatically identical on all of them.
And even if I'm away from my own computers, I can get any file at
www.GetDropbox.com
Even old files which I've deleted are still there on the website. It
makes a nice warm feeling.
