Re: [Tyndale STEP - Programming] Crossroads and roles

Basically on that note, anything that has a Java VM would be able to run our thing. I believe iPhones don't have one.

There's some mention about it being used on J2ME. I guess we'd need to try it out to make sure... We'd have to ensure the database choice works with J2ME too...

MacOS and Linux will work with the exact same code, with no need to recompile.

Android supports Java, so that would be no problem if it was supported on ME. There's mention of there now being a version of JavaSE for Android also...

David,
you and Chris have solved most of the problems of how we are going to
build this thing,
and a lot of that was thanks to the research you did into the
capabilities of different technologies.
It looks like you have a real talent for hunting down solutions and
identifying possible problems.

One area which still needs a lot of research is installation on
different platforms.
- Mac OS and Linux will (I imagine) be easy, but needs checking
- Windows Mobile, iPhone and Android will hopefully be possible
- Symbian and Palm may not be possible, but it would be great to look at
Some of these platforms will need a cutdown version, and they will
all have installation quirks.

Does that sound like the kind of thing you could research and find
solutions for?
